Monday, April 18, 2022 – Mexico

Yes, you read that correctly. The update for today is coming from Mexico!

Summary: If everything goes smoothly, they will be granted Humanitarian Parole at the Mexico Border when they cross tomorrow and be in Utah by Wednesday! To clarify, this is a completely legal way that Ukrainians are currently coming to the US. They are not “sneaking” or skirting around the law to get here. We ask for your thoughts and prayers for them to safely make it across the border tomorrow with no issues.

The Scoop

As we have previously posted about, most of the ways we researched about them coming here required a wait of years if not decades. A few weeks ago we began seeing articles pop up about Ukrainians being let across the US-Mexico border.

The Strategy

With the above information and a whole lot of hope, the decision was made to go for it and expect miracles to happen. Anne Faber (Jon Yuri Faber’s adoptive mother) and Olivia Faber (Jon Yuri Faber’s wife) flew out to join Anya, Elena, and the kids in Paris. They spent a week out there getting everything prepared to fly to Mexico as well as enjoying some much needed fun time.

The plan made was to fly directly to Mexico City, fly to the border the next morning, and cross in the US. Anne’s brother Reed Haws, who has Mexican Citizenship and speaks fluent Spanish, planned to meet them in Mexico City and be with them all the way through till they make it to Utah. Barring any issues, they will make it to Utah early Wednesday morning.

The Status

Everything so far has gone smoothly. The flight from Paris to Mexico City was uneventful and everyone was able to make it through customs in Mexico City with no issues. They are now resting a hotel and will travel to the border tomorrow. We ask for prayers that all will continue to go smoothly tomorrow for being able to cross the border and be reunited with Jon, Hyrum, and Heather and the rest of us here in the US.

Thank You

Thank you all for your continued support. We are so grateful for the overwhelming amount of support and love that has been shown. We ask for continued prayers for everyone to make it safely across the border tomorrow as well as continued prayers for Sasha, Elena’s husband, who is still back in Ukraine fighting in the war.
